Update about the showing

Hello everyone,

It’s been some time since the last update so we just wanted to give some news.  A collection is still being put together for the showing but the date will probably be moved.  We spoke with the gallery owner and he said it was fine, he would keep a time open for whenever things are ready.

Hello Everyone,

After taking some time to think about the best way to proceed, we’ve decided to shift things a little bit.  To start I’ll just re-iterate our main goal which is to do a show at a reputable gallery in Paris, presenting what can be done on the iphone or itouch and give merit to the idea that art can be done on a digital canvas.

Since we started with this group of judges whom we respect we will continue to work with them, however, the shift comes as we are going to ask the judges themselves to go out on the web and look through all the iphone art groups and select pieces which they would showcase in a gallery.

We will see how this goes and we’ll post to all of you on art-mobile.fr the pieces which the judges find.

Hello everyone, the judges had their meeting on Sunday afternoon, spent considerable time looking at the submitted works and came back with a list which they felt would be good for a gallery showing.

We would like to say how incredible everyone has been, we received many emails from people and a huge number of submissions (way more than we had originally thought) and it shows how popular this new mobile  medium is.  Going forward we will be looking for new opportunities to showcase the work done on mobile devices and are excited to be part of a group with so much enthusiasm.

Now to the report, the results from the judges was a little unexpected and it’s safe to say they were being very strict, in the end they only chose 12 pieces.  Possibly they were a bit skeptical of art being done on mobile devices or perhaps they were overwhelmed with the amount of submissions to go through.  These judges are very much in the painting world so this will reflect their likes and dislikes, whatever made them be strict in their choosing, this is the result.  The one dilemma we have is 12 pieces is too little for doing an exhibition so we will have to think of a solution, possibly doing another round of submissions or ….. well we’ll see what we can come up with.  Even though the judges were very strict with their choices they were also happy to be included in this event.

The selected pieces will be uploaded tomorrow so everyone can see which ones the judges selected and we will take a few days to decide what to do next.

Upcoming Judges Meeting

Hello everyone,

Just an update to say that over 2700 submissions were received, this was way more than we had originally thought and it will now be a big challenge for the judges to choose between them all.

The first meeting with the judges will be Oct 4th and the goal of that meeting will be to choose 75 paintings.  Next the chosen paintings will be linked to from this website and people will be encouraged to comment, the comments will be read by the judges and could influence them when they meet for the second time to make a final selection.  The final selection, made by the judges, will represent 35 artists.

The first exhibit will take place at Galerie Olivier Nouvellet, 19 Rue de Seine 75006 Paris on December 20th and 21st.

Depending on the success of the first exhibit goes, more exhibits could follow at other galleries.
